I am interested in colour, texture and pattern. In my figurative work I begin by making mood boards, building up a story

using archival photographs, magazines and found images. 

I'm drawn to domestic scenes using old photos of family

and friends as the foundation, then layering in contemporary and vintage interiors. My recent series of still lives are a response to my everyday surroundings. Starting with a strong clear colour identity for the work, I then make cutout paper collages which become the basis for the final painting.

I constantly add items then make space, build up layers

and then simplify, taking things back to their purest form.
